I see tilt columns on ebay quite a bit but never for less than a Benjamin.
I've seen them, only for automatics.

Wonder if you can use the mechanism out of a car? Since more cars had that option. I didn't realize the auto vs manual would be too different. But, what do I know, lol.

I did look at a 78 F250 last month with a tilt column... it was stuck in the uppermost postion, real interesting trying to drive that one.

Good question. I wouldn't think they'd be too much different. I took the column out of that 89 that I got the motor and tranny out of. I also took the pedals, firewall support, and brake booster. That column would pretty much bolt right up, but I'm not sure about it on the end where it joins the shaft from the steering box.

Yes, those were the ones I was referring to although I did stumble across a manual many moons ago, only the price was a bit steeper on that. If nothing else you could always pick up the auto column to convert.

Im sure it is all the same, I would just need to find a car to steal one out of.

The auto tilt has all the guts for the column shifter, the manual doesn't

Lookin for another truck? Very nice! Wouldn't be that hard to drive but I have long monkey arms lol

Rob just bought one! There are aftermarket columns I could get, if I wanted to do that.

Only if I can make it work in the truck. I'd have to change teh steering wheel, that 89 wheel is tiny!

What?! Where the hell have I been?! Thanks for telling me Rob, I see how I rate...

Aftermarket columns get spendy, plus you have to go to the mfg to get replacement parts later on. I like being able to go to a parts counter if I get stranded somewhere. Then again it is doubtful you will get stranded anytime soon with a new aftermarket column.

With a torch and a hammer anything will fit lol. Is it splined or 'd' shaped on the wheel? Splined would let you use an older wheel if the horn isn't setup too differently.

Yeah, Rob bought a 67, and sold his 79! You just need to get out more, Corey!! Not sure about the wheel shaft, I'd have to pull it off to see. Nice thing about it, I could use a wheel with cruise in it, just need a factory set up for it.

Sold the '79?! Man I loved that truck Going to have to see if he has any 67 pics.

Not sure on the newer cruise setups but on the old, pre-79, it was a separate harness and module with different speedo cables and well has the vacuum canister for holding cruise along with all the associated linkage. If you find a truck with it be sure to pillage everything lol.

Isn't he supposed to have approval from 2/3 of the slackmaster council before doing something so rash? Now who am I going to get to crawl under their truck for pics at a seconds notice?! Waaaay to be selfish Rob!!!!!
