Hey there fella's! I finally got the alternator on my brother's Excursion replaced.
It was, in fact, the alternator.
I did a bunch of research on replacing it. the biggest problem is the belt! I read about others experiences trying to replace the alt.
This website makes me look like one awesome mechanic! Thanks to all of you!
I checked some fuses and fusible link all was good. pulled the suspect took it to get checked and it failed 3 times. bought a new one(rebuilt) Autozone. $133 plus tax $25 core. put the new one on in about 10 minutes. fired it up...waited 5 minutes....checked voltage at the batteries...14.5 volts...awesome. then I crawled under the bumper and dug out the cord for the block heater. He didn't even know it had one! LOL
