Need bigger alternator!!!

SHAME ON FORD for putting a 110 amp alternator in a 1 ton truck!! Even the Ram 1500,s came with a 130 amp. I run a plow and I cant find a larger amp one anywhere. The powerstroke ones look totally different. Anyone upgrade to a larger one? Where did you find it??

You can also try to find a local rebuild shop to build you one with a higher amp rating.

Here's where all the diesel dudes go for a new alternater or starter. I used them and they are the best IMHO. If I ever needed an alternater or starter, I would call these guys.

Starters, Alternators and more for Cars, Trucks, Tractors and ATVs

Auto Zone has 130 amp for mine. Should be the same for yours. I have an extra one in the garage if you are close by.

Appears, after looking into this further. The 2003 is not the same as the 1999. Also auto zone has only the 110 for the 2003. Must be different plug or something else because the cost for the 2003 is much more than the cost for the 1999. Weird. You said you're from Michigan? I am from Minnesota. But I live in California, WARMER!!

This is like...

People who need more storage for their junk. Get rid of the junk!
110 Amps isn't enough?
What about reducing the electrical load instead of a larger Alt. Saves gas and buying another Alt.

Junk?? Most of the "Junk" came factory with my truck" And my 8 foot plow, rear salter, Back blade and my amber roof light is hardly junk. Some people who buy trucks actually use them as trucks and actually do work with them. Im one of those people.
