My manual says:

"MERCON automatic transmission fluid"
"Caution: Do not use MERCON V or dual-usage MERCON/MERCON V automatic transmission fluid. Do not mix types."

1. However, I thought MERCON V was ok for this tranny now...can someone confirm this for me?
   
2. I do not plan to do a full flush, so would adding MERCON V to the already present MERCON be a no-no?
   
3. I see some of this stuff is DEX/MERCON. Is that ok to use in this tranny?
   
4. While we are talking about it, what should I put in the transfer case (same conundrum).

Any other advice, tricks-of-the-trade, or useful tid bits you fellas can throw at me would be appreciated.

MERCON ATF IS BEING REPLACED BY MERCON V ATF AS A SERVICE FLUID.

You can use D3/M if you want, but the M5 is much better now and is recommended.

Mercon V is now the specified fluid for these transmissions. You can get OEM fluid for less than $5/quart at O'Reilly auto parts if you have them near by.
