A mid 80's box should go for around $900, give or take depending on condition. This would be fror a rust free southern box that you would get from one of the jobbers that heads down to the south to get parts and brings them back up here to turn a profit. A short box or stepside would be more because they are rarer and older boxes like 73-79 are going for $5-600 more again depending on condition. Just because their rust free doesn't mean that they haven't taken a beating. Shop around be patient.
As for emmission I thought that you would be exempt from testing in Ontario for an 80's vehicle? No idea why you would need the EGR if you don't need to pass emmissions?

Franks price on the box sounds right
As for the EGR Ontario emissions law say even if it doesn't require an e-test
if it came with smog components they must be present on the vehicle, check your emissions decal on the engine or on the hood to see what your truck came with.
