cdr on my 7.3

i went to my local part store and they promise me my truck has nothing on it called a cdr. Which i know it does. How do i go about getting one? Will it have any effect on my engine besides my oil consumption?

You can try removing it, and letting soak in gasoline for a few hours, taking it out and shaking it every 20 min or so during those hours, to clean it up. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a new one.

I think the CDR is a Ford or IH dealer part only.

But yes a bad, or dirty CDR will cause oil consumption.

Its pretty much a dealer only part these days, and not as cheap as it should be

Dealer part, but they won't call it a CDR valve. Here's the Ford PN: E3TZ-6A665-A

Holy crud, that is expensive! The hose from the valve cover to the CDR is cracked on mine, I think I will try to clean with some ATF and acetone mixed (best solvent ever!) before I drop $90 for one...

yeah.so many of us would faint if we had to maintain a powerstroke.
did ya see the first link though,it's 50 there.much better, but still does seem silly high for such a basic device.
i know you can wash 'em out,but your not supposed to used compressed air,and if you see black chunks coming out while washing, that's when you know you need to replace it i guess.still haven't bothered to wash mine yet so i dunno.
