install seats from a 2003 F150 in a 1997 F150

All,

I want to install seats from a 2003 f-150 in a 1997 f-150.

The biggest issue is that the 2003 has the seat belts built into the seats, opposed to the 1997 where they are a more traditional mount.

With the 2003 the seat belts have a "Pre-tensioner" for the seatbelts that are part of the Safety Restraint System.

Since the 1997 does not have electrical connectors for the Pre Tensioner:

1. Can it be hooked up/converted, and how?
2. If it can not, is it safe to use the seats without the pretensioner connected?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thank you

Someone might chime in, but I know I have seen something on this either here or one of the other F150 forums. You might try searching to see what you can find.

It should work out OK for you. Most pretensioners work along with the normal locking mechanisms in seatbelt systems, not in place of them. You just wont have the added benefit of the pretensioner system which the 97 was not equipped with.
