Can anyone tell me what this wire is for? With pic



This wire is in the steering column under the plastic cover. Looks like it was cut clean but I don't remember doing it. The only thing I can think of is Cory (Chuck Norris) did cut a wire to I think kill the dinging when the door is open or something. He was "helping" me install my gauges (meaning he did the work and I watched) and he mentioned doing something like that because it was driving him crazy and I didn't really care.

Strip the end and connect the wire and see if your door open dinging comes back!

Good idea Stewart, but it's all back together now and not really worth the trouble. Was more curious than anything.

I dont know for sure but it is a pretty heavy gauge wire for a door dinger. Looks like a heavier amperage feed

Black wire with pink stripe is the ”key in ignition” wire. Simply probing it with a grounded test light will verify this. I removed the wire from the brown connector without cutting it.

That would explain why I always have a "key in ignition failure" I have AE

I get the same code and simply disregard it.
