Turbo Breathing X5

So recently I noticed that my up-pipes were leaking and i didn't have the money to get a pair of bellowed so I got new donuts, took the pipes off, cleaned them, there was only minimal scoring on them thank goodness. I got it all back together to find out that i have another leak down by where the pipe connects to the manifold. So i fixed that up and took my truck out for a spin, much better truck sounded normal and had a little bit more of an animal under the hood. I get in it to drive it around yesterday and under light throttle it sounds normal, maybe the sound of a tiny exhaust leak or something, but if i ever give it any throttle or it down shift, it sounds like my down-pipe just disappears and becomes extremely loud and a raspy sound takes place of the nice whistle I'm used to. It also coughs very loudly every time i let off the throttle??? I am going to try to figure out what is going on this morning? But anyone got any ideas?

Coughs? That's a tough sound to suss out in my head. What does your boost gauge say when you're on it? Did you let the truck warm up before you got on it? If not, the EBPV is probably still engaged and you'll hear a pretty good hiss that can be mistaken for a boost leak. Since you just fixed your exhaust leak, you're probably hearing the EBPV doing its job for the first time in a while. If this is the case, let it warm up before you get on it and report back with that grin.

note the ebv delete in dooder's signature...

i vote pin misalignment at turbo/baby's but. maybe spider... but a simple boost leak test will point you in a better direction than the dartboard method.

egt's?
gauges help your motor talk to you.

gauges are your friend.

Haha you guys are funny. My boost was fine 26-28psi and ik my pin was aligned in the back cause it was a royal PITA when changing the pipes. But I found my problem. After close examination i discovered some soot around the area where my adapter for my van turbo to down-pipe mated to my turbo. Reached back there, wiggled it and walah! Loose adapter. So, out with the turbo again for the second time in 2 weeks.
