New to the board and ordering a new truck

Hey all Merry Christmas. Well I didnt see a new member thread so I went here. Ive been on a few other ford forums but new here so ill introduce myself. Im from chicago im 22 and I turn wrenches for a living and flip muscle cars. Im retiring my 97 150 and tomorrow im ordering my new baby. Im ordering a 2013 F350 6.2 crew cab lariat 6 3/4 bed 4x4. 4.30 electronic locker. I pull a two car gooseneck and just cant justify the extra 7k for a 6.7. Cheers all

Welcome to the board. The truck sounds sweet. These forum areas can be slow at times, come up to the Super Duty section of the FTE when really wanting info or just to BS a lot more eyeballs and traffic there.

Welcome to FTE! What color are you going to end up going with?

Post up if you have any questions about ordering or anything.

The 6.2 board is kinda slow because, well, let's be honest, our trucks just run..

The 6.7 board has more than just diesel talk, lots of 11+ general questions, etc in there as well so take a look in there too.

FYI, if it bothers you to frequent the gas station more often, then go with the long bed for the bigger tank. The 4.30's are fun but aren't the best for mpg's.

Any reason for going with the 10k package (insurance/registration?)? The gooseneck will probably dump you over your GVWR as these trucks are pretty heavy. I had mine weighed, came in just over 8000lbs. That was just me, a buddy (~185lbs) and a half a tank of gas. Doesn't leave much room for payload/trailer with the 10k GVWR package. Just throwin' it out there, something to think about.

I thought te 10k upped the weight but clearly I was wrong. Food to know before I got to the dealer. Fuel mileage is no issue because I have a company vehicle I drive maybe 5k a year. I know the short bed is 35g tank how big is the long bed?

You can get a 35g on the shortbed now? It didn't used to be like that (probably new for '13). Yeah, if you don't need the long bed, no sense in getting one...

The 10k pkg is for those that might run into issues with registration/insurance in some states (who charge a premium for vehicles with >10k GVWR). I got the max for my configuration, which was around 11,200 or 11,300.

And now we wait it officially on order. From what the build sheet stated it was a 35g with the short bed. I ordered a long bed anyway I can fit more fishing rods also a tool box wont kill my bed space now. im Happy now but when that fisrt truck payment comes its going to be a kick thats for sure. the truck listed at 55.8.

Congrats on the order.

Man, the prices on these things keeps going up. I pretty much got everything imagineable on my truck and it sticker'ed at $54 and change, and that included $1700 for the 5er hitch (that's STILL brand new, sitting in my basement)...

The 35 gallon tank came on my '11 SB. That's the reason I got the SB and did not need the extra length. You will be happy with it, never had a bit of problem and just turned over 20,000 miles today.

Truck sounds like a nice one, now that you ordered the hard part comes, waiting to get it.

Oh yeah welcome to FTE.

Con grates on the truck order. The last 2 truck I got both where ordered and I wish I could say the waiting is easy but damn as the time gets closer the tougher it is.

Congrats on the order!

Mine is a '12 short bed and it does have the 35gal tank

Sounds like a really nice truck you got.....I feel I really got lucky with mine.

I went to test drive a 6.2 last Saturday and they had 2 '12's left one was the truck I got and the other was a black one with a few less options. The only thing my truck did not have was a sunroof and Nav. I almost pulled back and thought I want a fully loaded truck but it really didnt matter. I had a sunroof in my Denali and honestly did not use it that much. And as far as nav its nice but the nav on my iphone works pretty damn good. Besides I fell inlove with the White platinum color and they knocked the price down to $41k the sticker was $48,600 I know they wanted to move it and make room for the '13's

Either way I am tickled to death with this truck......you will love it!

I'm in Chicago and I searched over a 300 mile radius for a dealer who had one in stock and couldn't come up with anything close to what I want. So from there I just decided to order it . Msrp is 56,000 on the head. I'll be out the door around 51k but it's got it All including the premium 20's. It's a large pill to swallow but I'm only young once so I figured why not. The other one I was looking at was 48.900 and they had it marked down to 40 ad some change. We're you at 41k out the door or 41 plus tax title lic. Sorry for any grammatical errors I'm typing on an IPhone.
