1:Was able to get her to crank right over when i jumped the relay with a screew driver.
2:Replaced the CPS yesterday
3:Found the leak. Its coming from the oil dip stick tube.
4:6637 Filter kit from riff raff should be here on friday
5:Already have about $600 in the truck and cant afford much more
How's it running after you replaced the CPS?
If you jumped the GPR with a screw driver and it fired right up, I'm sure you know you have a bad relay. Just a hint on the relay, don't buy that from a parts store either.. Either get a Stancor or one of these ebay relays. Ford Diesel Glow Plug Relay 6 9 and 7 3 Powerstroke | eBay
I'm running the ebay relay right now, but it's only been on there for about a month. I haven't run this relay before until now, so I'm unsure of how long it will actually last. I think it will last longer due to the wiping action on the contacts. My 1 year old OEM relay had some really burnt contacts.
If I read correctly, the oil leak is just building up by the valve cover somewhere, not actually dripping right? Where is the oil that your worried about? If it's on the passenger side of the oil pan, yeah it's the dipstick o-ring and you need to be very careful when you fix it. If it's just oil build up on the side of the valve cover by the dipstick, I bet it's just blow by coming out of the dipstick making dirt and oil build up right there.
No its oil running out. Not a horrible leak but you can see it running down and dripping off the pan if the truck sits and runs for a few. Somthing i need to fix before i give it back to him and it becomes a bigger issue.

Nope cleaned every thing off of the pan and drove 200 miles with her. There is nothing coming down from above the dip stick tube but right around it and under it you can see where she is leaking. I cant tell a drop in the oil level yet but i know its going to get worse if i dont address it now.

Well if is just around under of the tube, maybe is just the o-ring there, that is easy to change and, you dont have to work with the part with the big nut there.
x2 on F350-6's comment about the valve covers. don't pull them until you have to - like when you get around to changing the GPs - which you'll probably have to do.
i thought my valve covers were leaking, but it turned out to be one of the high pressure oil rail plugs on top of the heads (toward the engine valley). one of the o-rings was shot and it was slowly leaking from there, down around the head and making the under/out-side of the valve cover appear to be leaking. replaced the o-ring, and the leak stopped. my truck [almost] doesn't drip at all now!
Been there on the door handle problem. Do you have to pull the handle farther than you should to open the door? IIRC the cable will stretch and can be twisted to help if so. I also think I remember another possible problem is the inner part of the door may be flexing (possibly cracked? I don't remember for sure). Pull the door panel and take a look if needed.
The Glow plug relay was not the issue. Going to start checking the glow plug pins to see whats going on. On a positive note i can take the relay back and just use the cash from that to replace the glow plug pig tails or the glow plugs if need be. Flushing the transmission again on sunday and doing the fuel shim mod to get the fuel pressure back up. On monday i plan on pulling the stock down pipe and ECU off to send down to DP tuner.
Welcome to FTE. I also think it is awesome that you are doing all of this for your grandpa. You already have lots of good advice so I will stay quiet for now. LOL
Much agreed... previous owner of my truck had jb welded it to the pan...the inner piece now resides below the pan baffel and I ended up dropping 300 bucks on a fix that does not require pulling the motor... FYI none of the adapter pieces are magnetic....except the tube itself..
WELCOME TO FTE
Great looking truck as well... Id consider doing the CCV mod as well when the 6637 kit comes in...you need a 3/4" barbed tubing connector and 7 or so feet of 3/4 ID hose. 6 bucks to do it.
