94 f350 460 oil pump install

I am replacing my oil pump and I wanted to make sure I installed my drive shaft correctly. I jacked up my motor and removed the pan. When I put the new pump and shaft back on I put the shaft in the pump and bolted it back on. I had to turn the shaft a little to seat in the block. It was binding up a little bit as I was tightening the 2 bolts that hold the pump on the block. I hope that the shaft is seated properly in the block since I had no way to see where to put it. I used the pump to guide it up into the block. Does this method sound ok?.. Thanks
