Mustang II kit install

I am currently working on a Mustang kit install and wonder if anyone has worked through the whole process and what kit they used and any tips on making it flow together. Tried a search but got a whole bunch of different topics and not really covering an actual install. Thanks, Paul

mustang II

I have a fatman mustang two that I installed a few years ago. I have never gotten the truck on the road to report how it handles. It was pretty straight forward. What kind of questions do you have?

I have the Fatman kit and currently got the old axle pulled and boxing plates welded in. Even though the plans and directions are good just wondered if there are any other details or tricks to make the work easy. Looks like mostly time and accurate measurements rather then a lot of heavy fabrication.

Just curious if the instructions on those kits recommend moving the axle center line forward 1-1.5" to center the front tire better in the wheel well?

mustang 2

I think it reccomends a inch forward. I tig welded the hats on because that just looked better. Yea just measure it and measure again and tack and measure and then do the final welding.

What are you doing for the back end? I wish I had seen the lincold irs kit that is on the market before I c'd the back of my frame. I think that would be cool to have that under my truck.

I'll look through the instructions again but not sure if it mentioned the 1" forward movement. Just putting drop monoleafs on the back and a disc brake conversion. Saw the IRS set up and decided to keep the 9", think my planning for the gas tank relocate would have had some interference.

There isint much room on the back end when you start dropping it. I would like to go to a 4 link eventually but I just put my rearend ontop of the springs and took a couple out so it will ride a little better.
