It looks like it might have been painted at one time. Was the truck a step side or wide bed?
Could it be a bracket to hold the step in front of the fender?

I'm not as familiar with those new fangled trucks.....lol

The bed is from a 57, but the truck is a 55. I think they are the support brackets for the stepside steps. 57's didn't have running boards, just the little steps. Thanks for your help Bob!!
