South Texas Tech Day #1 for 2013!

hi guys and gals...
a tech day is tentatively to happen right after the first.
its looking like the best locations to centralize this shin-dig will either be
Victoria, Tx
or
Yoakum, Tx

there is much more room at the farm in Yoakum but we will be on generator power.
we could potentially do a 2 day thing if anyone has major surgery to perform.
plenty of room for tents, 5th wheels, trucks, tools, ice chests, and beer. we have a shooting range area on site if anybody feels like wrenching on trucks doesnt quite release enough testosterone.

attending:

twg1966
Nicmike
christof13t

so far on the list we have

2 frx install
bellowed uppies
mini turbo refresh
power steering flush

dont be scuurd to add your name and what your bringing to work on to the list.

Are we talking about the weekend of January 5th & 6th? I may be able to make it. I don't have anything planned to work on, but would be willing to help out and meet some new faces. I have experience in all the activities planned.

I'm on call the next weekend and not sure of my plans for the rest of the month. If it fits my schedule, I'll be there. I believe a friend of mine and fellow 7.3 brother has the proper socket, for the fuel rails plugs, to do the FRX. I'll try to borrow it.

I have FRx, turbo rebuild, non-EBPV pedestal and exhaust housing install, up-pipe donuts, new HPO lines, fuel bowl rebuild, HPOP o-rings, new fuel lines on both sides and maybe a new 4 inch exhaust system on the table. I have plenty of guns, too. However, I spent all my money on parts, so ammo is in short supply.

Also, I have mucho tools. Anybody needs to do ball joints, axle seals, rebuild a xfer case, rebuild a 10.25 or 10.5 rear end, rebuild a Dana 50, 60 or 110, test vacuum on anything, or check for blow-by (the right way)....I have all the special tools to do so, and can bring them on request.

I have a 7500k generator I can bring if necessary, Chris.

Good show, I hope to have a majority of this done by then. Do the hutch/harpoon mod. We shall see though. If all else fails I will get as much done as possible and save the rest for the gathering.

Look forward to seeing everyone.

I wish I had a couple extra days off for the drive to and from, it would give the opportunity for someone to really scrutinize everything on the new truck, and get the hutch, harpoon, and oil cooler seals fixed. Then spend the rest of the weekend as a tool pusher and just watch the magic happen.

sweet. the rear plug on ted's truck was giving us fits. the craftsman universal dogbone i picked up fits like a custom glove but cant get it in there with turbo still on the motor.
wasnt to worried about accessibility on tech day because the plan was to be pulling the 2 that needed frx down to bare valley anyway f or turbo refreshes, up pipe work, fuel bowls and at least 1 hpop. would be cool to have another option available to remove the plugs with the turbo still on if need be.

It looks like my schedule has opened up a bit more. I should be able to make any weekend in January, but that of the 12th and 13th. I talked Mark this weekend and he doesn't recall buying the socket. I might still might be able to come up with something that will work.

Have wife, too. Kids grown. She likes to travel places with me and has made some lifelong friends through FTE along the way.
