Something to check regularly??

Just pulled valve covers off to do glow plugs and wiring, etc. Big thing I found was the intake boot that slips over the turbo, was cracked almost all the way around, right before the clamp. Not sure if this was from old age, or vibration. Anyway, that's a huge source of dirty air, and you couldn't tell it was cracked without pulling it off. Just an FYI thing.

the upgrade might just be for the 94-97 and the few 99's with the old style boot?

I don't know of an aftermarket one. I've seen this on a truck before at work and had to take the parts guy out to my truck 2 different times to show him what part was needed. They kept trying to give me the tube that went from the air box to the center support.
