Question Was the SCT Xcal 2 a good unit?

I have found one with only one unlock used, and has 3 tunes from Eric at innovative. (not that I would use those)

Any quick thoughts on these Xcal 2's?

It was "the thing" in 2007-2008. SCT has moved on to other bigger/better/faster(?) hardware since then.

Those of us who have the Xcal-2 (like me) are still using them.

Whether or not it's a good buy depends upon how much the guy is asking for it.

I'll have to learn more about this. (just for understanding)

Talking with a tune writer the other day.

Let's say I want him to write me a tune. My strat is VXCB9xx. He says He then takes another Ford strat, let's say VABC2xx (I made that up)

He then writes the tune in that strat and sends it to me.

So I load the new strat VABC2xx into my truck. My old strat is no longer in there is it?

Haven't I removed my strat and put on file to return to stock when needed, and replaced it with a new strat?

So, the question is, can a person run the custom tunes from this tuner in a different truck?

The world won't end if you use tunes from a different strategy.

Your truck probably won't run right, especially at larger throttle applications, but it will run. You probably won't notice MUCH difference when puttering around town.

If anything, the trans shifting would probably be more of an issue than the engine running.

Yeah, I'm just going to get new ones from Eric at Innovative. This was a unit they sold, and it has his tunes on it now.

I'll call them in the morning.

Make Shure you save your stock tune from the tuning device to your computer & a flash drive.

I have a spare drive just for this. Although I think I'm going to go with Matt instead for now.
