I love running 255 85 16s. Bob Seeger had a line about 'way up firm and high' in one of his songs, but I don't think it was about trucks. We use it to describe trucks like Teddy when we see 'em. As for the deep lugs, I couldn't get anywhere around this mudhole of Western Washington without them the past couple of weeks! Great job Wally.

Thanks Gary!
'way up firm and high'
Waylon Jennings was a little more direct when he sang about "firm feeling women"
Has nothing to do with tires or trucks, but these lyrics stick in my mind.

Mine might be 2wd, but it is pretty firm. I have to say there are quite a few posts about removing springs to improve the ride. I wish they'd just send them to me. I just added 3 more leaves to the front springs to raise it up a bit. The diesel engine weighed more than the 223 I took out and it always seemed a little 'down in the mouth' after that it sits level now. If I want a soft ride I borrow my honey's truck.

I think understand what you are saying. Its like truck/soft, hot sauce/ice cream. I like em, just not side by each.

Whaahoo!
It took longer then I wanted but, went to the DMV yesterday and got Teddy registered. The Lincoln buckets were just too thick and set me to close to the wheel, so I found a third row bench from an Astro van and mounted the power tracks from one of the buckets to the bench.
Well I took the first drive today and found a few things to straighten out.
The first was no charging, found the charge indicator light was burned-out and so the alt. was not getting excited (no filament no circuit).
Next is the biggie. The junk yard transmission 4r70w. is shifting late and when going to OD its like going to neutral. If I cancel OD it stays in 3rd just fine but still has the late shift problems. So I pulled the codes and now the problem tracking begins. Guess thats what i get for a pick-n-pull engine and trans. at least the engine runs pretty good.
I'll try to get some video of my next drive and see if I can figure out how to post it.

Sorry folks this happens when you can't resist the darkside.
But it stills looks "traditional"!

Hey TS I'm feeling like a bit of an idiot tonight.

It's all good, do you guys know if there's a kit to upgrade my generator (y block) to an alternator? As in modify it, so it looks original. It's working fine at the moment but looking for options down the road.

I've been following your 60 build thread, that will be a nice cruising truck, when it's finished up.
