I need to change my neighbors camshaft seal that is leaking all over the water pump and belt before it breaks. I see there is some special tools for removing the pulley and installing it. I'm sure you guys have used something else to do this job, so what did you use? BTW this is the early style where the pulley is on the intake cam.

A standard pulley remover won't work?

I don't know if any parts stores will have similar tools available as loaners.

Personally, if I had to do this, I would check with Oreillys tool loan program.

Since my local store has loaner tools.

Do you know for sure that the tools is Ford specific?

 

I thought about it for awhile and figure a standard puller should work for removal and I just need to figure out what sort of bolt will thread into the cam to reinstall it.
