Adding Turn Signals to Mirrors

Adding Turn Signals to Mirrors
After a recent lane-changing 'experience' , I'm thinking it might be pretty nice to have some turn-signal indicators in my side mirrors. My '07 EL XLT doesn't have 'em, and I'm wondering if the wires and such are already in there, there's a plastic piece below the mirror glass where the indicators would go, and maybe I can just get the necessary pieces from Ford to install the indicators? Has anyone done this?

I thought someone had asked this question about 2 months ago. Have you tired the search function? If it came up with nothing that it must have been another board that I am thinking about. I thought the answer was yes but you had to splice into the harness on the door-I am not 100% on that though.

It must have been another forum. I just did a search and only found my post asking the same question from Oct. of last year and never got a response.

I wish the other forums would have a separate thread for 07 and newer like this one.

Turn signal mirror
It looks like they are available separately now:
New LH Exterior Rear View Mirror Lamp Lincoln Navigator Ford Expedition | eBay
You would have to do some wiring though.

I can tell you on the '96 Bronco (which were the first vehicles ever to have the turn signal in the door mirrors) I purchased a set of signal flash mirrors and when I got the OEM mirror off, door panel off, and ready to plug everything in I found out that:
The vehicles that came with the turn signal in the mirror had a different plug (one extra connector) in the mirror, and plugged into a female that ran through the door and under the dash that had the extra pin in it as well, so it wasn't a direct plug and play.
I didn't research it further to see if I could change the plug and wiring under the dash that went into the door.

They added Aviator mirrors to their Explorer and wire harness were different. He had to run a wire for the turn signal
