I want more power for my 292
Hi all! juan manuel am. I write from Argentina! I tell them that in this country the f100 is almost a national symbol of work and effort! Trucks is one of the most produced and undoubtedly the most loved!
and these days is hard to find models from 61 to 66. I have a 64 f100 has a 292. Here the 292 came with 140hp which is sooo poor. the good thing is that a motor is indestructible.
I'm trying to improve my motor. and the only way I found is to buy everything there in USA since this engine was more developed.
I'm still researching things I can add to my engine, but I'm a bit confused with so many brands and products.
any of you can guide me? I want to build an engine with about 260hp because I want to walk with him and give daily use and not for racing.
I would get aluminum cylinder heads, crankshaft, forged pistons back, forged and good vielas course a thunderbird intake manifold with four mouths. and special exhaust manifolds.
Perhaps some of you have something to sell.
well I hope your answers!
a big hello from Bariloche ARGENTINA. from Patagonia
pd:I'm very sorry because my English is really horrible. I hope you understand.

Link to Mummerts Y-Blocks FORD Y mention in above post. Also try Red's headers Reds Headers

I would suggest if it has the crossover pipe and single exhaust, go for dual sanderson truck headers with dual exhaust. This does significantly increase power. Other ideas would go with the bigger valve heads Mummerts aluminum or the older G or 113 heads. Also deck the block so when going to composite gaskets you don't end up with poor compression ratio. If rebuilding the block anyway couldn't hurt to find a 312 crank grind the mains down, bore the block to 312 standard and find some rods and pistons, (rods shorter on 312's).You can soak some money into them just depending on what you want to spend.

If it's only about 260hp you're after, don't get the aluminum heads. The right Iron heads will do what you want and save a lot of money for other things.
If the engine is in generally good running condition, you can start with simple bolt-ons and tuning that will provide a nice boost to the performance.
Headers, or dual exhaust manifolds
High compression, large valve heads
high ratio rocker arms
tune the ignition advance curve in the distributor.
4 barrel (4 mouths) manifold
All of these are things you would probably do with a performance build, anyway so if they get the power up to a level you like without having to completely rebuild the motor, you will save a lot of money.
