The "Time Out" album got played a lot around our house when I was a kid...hearing Paul Desmond play "Take Five" was what made me want to learn to play Alto Sax. Didn't really realize until later in life how much of an innovator Brubeck was.

"Take Five" was re-recorded and performed live multiple times by The Dave Brubeck Quartet throughout the group's career. If you don't own any of his albums, start w/ this one. In this version of "Take Five", the tempo is a little slower. a little more mesmerizing. The drums are more pronounced & brought to the forefront at about the 2 minute mark. A truly amazing version!
