EGR gives CEL and O2 Sens. Questions

I've had a periodic check engine light on my truck while driving, it goes on and turns off randomly. I get a code 33, EGR not opening or pressure not reading(something like that). I thought the little actuator that pushing the valve open failed, so I replaced that. I can now hear the valve opening when I open rev it slightly from the throttle body. How would I clean it and be sure no large chunks of carbon are going to end up where they shouldn't? Yeah I could just delete but, I'm not going to. It's not "too complicated."

Also, I'd like to replace my O2 sensor but, I can't get the old one without, in my opinion could mess up the current sensor and still have the sensor stuck in the pipe. PB Blaster didn't seem to work. Should I run the engine to heat it up?

It smells like the engine is running a bit rich, can that be fixed fairly easily?

Since you made the repair clear the codes and wait to see of it comes back, codes will not go away by themselves so this is the only way to know if you have fixed the problem.

Cleaning the EGR valve involves removing it.. not hard.. you'll need a new gasket but there's a good possibility you'll have trouble getting the EGR tube disconnected and may damage it which will lead to new probelms, so weigh your options.

Running the engine for a couple minutes from cold will put some heat into the manifold and make removing the sensor easier, you could also use a propane torch to heat up the pipe around the sensor, this trick has worked for me on several occasions but don't do this with cast iron parts. Alternatively you could opt to just leave the old sensor there and have a new bung welded into one of the downpipes near the old sensor, the EFI system applies the same fuel map to all injectors so it really doesn't need to "see" all cylinders.. one bank is fine.
