There are different codes for different setups. A manual transmission 302 truck is different than a automatic transmission 302 truck. If you have the same truck setup as the computer came from, you should be okay. I battled this when I sold my computer chip from my 1993 F-150. It has a E40D, and I would have used it in my 89 with a AOD, however computers were different.

Well, the firing order is the same, as is the speed density efi system. I would think it would work, if the pins line up correctly.

I kinda had to laught when you chose to use the word vintage. 
Its what they are! Anyway, I thought all stangs had the 351 firing order? If it doesn't, it should work fine but actually might perform a little better if you have a few mods on it since the stangs came with a few more ponies than the trucks did. Just a guess.
