IIRC you also need an 83-86 460 4-speed bellhousing, I seem to remember someone saying the 351M/400 bell doesn't quite work properly... luckily a widely available 390 flywheel will bolt right up and work fine!
It should fit, you need perches and mounts and they're available from L&L I believe.
Also make sure that its a Ford motor not a Lincoln. What difference would that make, if there was such a thing?
No such thing as perches (aka stands, towers) for a 4WD, as there's no crossmember to bolt them to. 4WD engine supports bolt to the inner frame rails.
What year Lincoln came with a 429? None, all 1968/77 Lincoln/Continental Marks came with 460's, as did some 1978's. Some 1978's and all 1979's came with 400's.
1970: The 429/460 block casting prefix is D0VE, both share the same bore, the stroke is different.

All 1983/97 F250/350 460's have a hydraulic clutch. 1983 was the first year 4WD and a M/T trans was available with 460's.
460's not available in F100's after 1976, not available in F150's after 1979. 460's not available in 1980/82 F250/350's.

I thought 83's had mech.clutch and 84 was the first year for hydraulic? Maybe not, but even so, people have commented about using the five-speeds with the mechanical linkage, and those ALL came with a hydraulic clutch stock, so this shouldn't be an issue anyway. The 460 and diesels have an external slave with a clutch fork, so mech. linkage should be fine!
