The Dec "get out the snow shoes" thread

Which begs the question, how stupid do you have to be to subject yourself to an Alaskan winter?
Just kidding! I would love to get up there sometimes.

And that right there explains WHY you are still lost in Alaska .
All Right, I have a question about Alaska? First a Statment, My father was stationed in Alaska for a while, while there he said they had very little snow, because of how cold it was??
While stationed in South Dakota, the base use to send him out in a Crane Truck to go out and Rescue the locals during snow storms??
So here is the question, How much snow do you get? And Where at?

I have stock halogen bulbs. They work good, but when my white LEDs are on, it makes the headlights look more yellow. Kind of similar to replacing household incandescent with a CFL.

A LED normally can put out a 5-6.5k color ( warmth)
I do not believe that a incandescent can match it. the best you can get from the silverstart ultras in 4.7k, which is pretty white, but it will not be as white as the LED's

yeah if you are trying to match the LED's you're going to have to go HID.. LED's don't put out the broad spectrum of light that an incandescent does, they're pretty much one color. realistically you want a little yellow in the light.. it's actually usuable light, unlike the blues and purples you start to get into as you go away from yellow (like the riceburners that think the 8,10,12k HID's are "sweet"... yeah, good louck with those in fog and snow).
maybe wire the LED's so they're only on when the headlights aren't? i think with a relay it'd be doable. make them operate like a DRL of sorts.
