Well I'm up to mu usual shenanigans, and I'm trying learn exactly )from an electrical perspective), how the timing works.
From what I gathered,
2 hall effect sensors, 1 on camshaft, 1 on crankshaft, right?
And the sensor on the camshaft picks up an extra pulse at a certain spot to mark a definate point, and then the computer calculates from there the exact engine position?

To my knowledge nearly all computer controlled fuel injected engines operate just as you described. Not sure of the exact specifics though, these things are pretty complex and the documentation that I've found is pretty vague on exact details.
