key out of the ignition, ignition sound still continues
As the title states, when my keys are out of my ignition the sound still continues. Is there a wire I could clip to cancel out the noise all together or should I take it to an electrical shop and have them fix it? Thanks, Matt
Both of our 6.0 liter trucks would chime once the door is opened (even with the key out of the ignition). We found a microswitch inside the steering housing that sticks (where the ignition lock cylinder goes). I don't remember if we cleaned the switch or simply unplugged it.....but there isn't a chime any longer.

x2 on the broken clip, just fixed mine a couple weeks ago, it's small black ring/clip with I think a purple/green wire. The plastic clip probably snapped (if your lucky it's just loose and you can snap it back in) if not slide the metal part back in the grove and put a small piece of tape or super glue dot on the plastic part only. You have to take the lower/upper cover off and pop the ignition switch out to get to it properly.
Don't take it to a shop it's a 1 piece of tape, or a dab of glue and 15 minutes. Here is a post on replacing your shifter tube 90% of if you don't need but the first section has great instructions and pictures on how to get to the part you need to fix. One note: put your seat all the back before you disconnect the battery cable, it's kind of tight spaces under there and you need all the room you can get.
After several tries and a few hundred bucks, the dealership finally figured out it was the headlight switch that had gone bad. Not sure why it was "door" chime sound for the headlights, but that did the trick.
