Hey guys.
So I recently traded my Little honda civic for my beauty and beast 94 F150XLT 5.0 with the Aode auto tranny in it. I love the truck but there are a few issues with it that I can't seem to figure out. I have been a mechanic for the past 6 years so stuff like this doesn't generally take this long.
heres the trouble i'm having. It runs fine but if I take a turn or going up a hill it feels like the tranny wont downshift and I lose almost all fuel pressure. Say the truck is in 3rd, when I hit a hill it won't downshift to 2nd to get me up the hill and the truck goes into a lub, lub, lub, lub mode with no power to it. if feels like i'm towing a diesel filled with bricks.
Any suggestions as to what it may be?
I have already replaced the plugs and wires.
I've been told so far it's either a vacuum leak, my alternator, fuel pressure, or my tranny going out.
I can't find a vacuum leak, according to the last owner a new transmission was just put in it 50k ago.
I do know my rear main seal is leaking
You can test the TPS with a multimeter. Grab a shop manual or chiltons manual for the right voltages. Should be .9 vdc at idle if I remember right. Intake air charge temp sensor will cause loss of power too. Can't help with the tranny!
To me that sounds like a vacuum leak, you should check that again. Even a stretched throttle cable could cause that.
I will check that again. I actually plan on replacing/ rebuilding the entire truck once I get my other car working and can live without my baby for a while.
@Encho you seem to have the exact same truck as me, How do I check to see if my tranny is the Aode or Eo4d?

Your memory is failing you. Anything between 0.6-1.0 VDC is acceptable for the closed throttle TPS voltage.

Check the door jamb sticker.
