Hubs stuck

Hubs stuck
My axels constantly spin but not freely like they should in 2wd. Front drive shaft always spins but not freely, now it is loose and has a lot of play in it. Get a rough vibration 55+mph. How can I unlock these axels or hubs and do I need a new drive shaft?

Might just be the U joints on the shaft. Check them for play.
Have you tried engaging the hubs, drive forward, disengage, drive in reverse? That sometimes works.
Also, some later model ESOF had where if you turned the hubs Manual-Auto-Manual-Auto a few times, they would then freewheel. Not sure about your year.
