2000 Navi - How to hook up the old sub/amplifier to aftermarket radio

Hello everyone, I installed aftermarket Pioneer radio, works great with the 4 door speakers, but how do I hook up the the subwoofer/amplifier mounted in the back? I see connector C2007 behind the radio.
I see wires:
Subwoofer High Audio +
Subwoofer High Audio -
Audioshield (what's that?)
Subwoofer high Audio Mute (what's that?)

I assume that the + and - is what's important? is this where the signal from the radio goes in? But which wires from the radio would that be? And the Audio shield, is that a ground?.

anyway, I'd like guidance on hooking up my radio to this subwoofer/amplifier, pls help. thanks

If I remember correctly I did this using a shielded RCA patch cable.
The high audio are pretty self explanatory. The autoshield is the shielding material inside the insulation wrapped around the high audio + and -. The subwoofer high audio mute would be connected to the trigger wire coming out of the head unit, usually blue (I think).

Thanks, my regular Pioneer stereo has the wires out for the speakers which are now all connected>

Now it still has the 2 RCA outputs (red and white), which I should use to connect to the amplifiers.

Red and white supposedly is left and right channel.

When I split the wires, I join both audioshields? Then I am left with two signal wires? Which of these two signal wires goes to + and which wire goes to - ?

I also see the blue/white cable out of this radio which they say to connect to system control terminal of power amp. so I guess this is the high audio mute.

So question is the 2 rca how the wires go... and the next question would be, does this power amp already get power by the amp, because we are now only talking signal wires.

Thanks for all your help.

What model of pioneer are we talking about? Most of them I have worked with have a sub out plug or rca. The amp for the sub draws its power from another source, not the head unit.

Just a regular Pioneer DEH-1200MP

It says it has dual 2.2V pre-amp outputs

On this unit there is not a separate output for a sub. If you connect to the RCA outputs you have it will feed the full frequency range to the sub. You can try it but it may not sound very good at the sub is designed for low frequencies. Another option is to use an electronic crossover to separate out the lows before going to the sub. If you are interested in that I have on old Rockford Fosgate piece I would sell you. To try it I would go with one or the other of the outputs not both as the low frequencies are mostly mono.

Okay, thanks, let me try this first. I don't even know if this amp/sub is worth it.

I will use just one RCA output (Red), so, if I split that wire, I assume I have the shield, and signal wire, on which wires do they go on the car connector?

I would use a patch cable instead of splitting the cable on the radio. The signal wire would go to high audio + and the shield would go to both high audio - and shield, if I remember correctly.

Thanks,

I was actually still researching this, and found this aftermarket harness online: from there I can see how they split the RCA to the amp connector (right bottom on this photo):

the connector is upside down. blue is the mute, the black i assume ground from the radio, then signal, then the shield from the rca

They cut off the red rca, so, i guess only one channel (mono) goes into the amp

what do you think?

Looks like a good way to prevent having to cut and splice. It still would not deal with the fact that you would be sending high frequency signals to the sub.
