I gotta 7.3 that came in the shop. The complaint is this, when sitting at a traffic light it loads up and blows white smoke. Sittin there idling it will burn your eyes....i know thats a bad injector/hanging,but which one? Killing inj 1 at a time doesnt work. No change in pitch of motor....whatta ya think guys?
Sounds like it could be an ipr problem. I've read on here before those same symptoms and a new ipr cured it.
I can't remember what the values are suppose to be. I know what they are on the 6.0....I don't recall the duty cycle on the 7.3.......I know there's a link for the values. If the IPR wasn't doing its thing then u would get worse symptoms...right?

When My IPR was getting ready to stick , the truck had that eye burning smell . Looking back I assume it was sticking when cold . I would expect IPR DC % to be higher than expected compared to ICP pressure .. PCM calling for more oil but not seeing it . Low oil pressure lowers the fuel pressure inside the injector . (smoke) If everything else is working properly (GPR ,GP's) I would look at the IPR

Will do. Dieselsite has the actual ipr for 70$. You retain the old sillynoid.
Check turbo for oil leaks.
You'll see oil in the downpipe.
That makes dern good sense. This fella has stacks tho. Would it make it up that far? It would be an internal oil leak, right? If it was pedastal it would be at the back of motor, correct?

You'll see oil on the downpipe. You'll have to crawl under the truck.
The exhaust side of the seal will leak oil and it will be white smoke coming out with a very slight blue tint.
If it goes though the motor, it comes out blue/black, if it comes out the exhaust and burns there it is a white/grey/blue tint.
If it leaks out the pedestal, it will come out behind the flywheel/flexplate.
It's just a little metal ring inside the pedestal that's like a piston ring that seals it off. If you get too dirty of oil in there, it can destroy it.
