I would be pulling the cover and counting the rotations then. A 99', 03' and 04' auto V10 trucks with 3.73 gears and stock tires all run right at 1960rpm @ 70mph. He should be over 2200rpm at 70mph with 4.30s.

Well... For good or for ill I bought it! WOW!!! Now that is what I think a V10 is supposed to sound and respond like! I did find out that it lived all it's life till it came to Alaska in New Jersey... That is the ill part. There is some rust on the undercarriage. That will Be one of the first action items, crawl under scrub down, treat with rust converter and paint and undercoat. I'll do that while I put the F350 springs under it.

Didn't get to bring it home yet, but hopefully by Christmas! Have to arrange a ferry trip.

I'm actually trying to schedule the Whittier ferry, that will save me th drive over the pass. I still haven't decided to get new studs for it, but I think I may... That thing is a beast, and just the slightest tap of th throttle will break it loose! And while Anchorage gets semi dry roads sometimes in the winter, Kodiak is thaw and freeze then snow then thaw and freeze then snow and snow... Studded tires are almost mandatory.

I appreciate the offer! That is what makes Alaska unique. When my brother bought a new Suburban in 2001, someone drove it from Anchorage to Homer and put it on the ferry for him! And not someone he knew personally, but a friend of a friend of a friend!

I'll keep you all posted!

that's the look you have after a drive!

I did decide to wait on a gear change till I drive it awhile, though I am contemplating. Will see what it drives like after springs and the 35's.

But right now it is quite snappy!

Hey Russ,
What mods have you done to your Ex?
Do you have somewhere you are cataloging all your mods?
I am making a list of what I want to do to the new, older Ex, and thought it would be good to ask other Alaskans what's their prioritized list, possible sources of the parts for the mods...

Others feel free to chime in!

Thanks!
