Left over O-ring after rebuilding turbo ?
Uh Oh......I found this O-ring still in the rebuild kit bag after rebuilding my turbo.... I don't have an old one that matches, nor do I remember seeing it when I pulled the turbo apart.
There is no mention of it on the rebuild instructions.
Please tell me that I don't have to tear it all apart again.

A new one of those came in the kit, and I did use it. I just cannot find where the other one goes...
It can't be on the exhaust side, It would melt! and If it goes behind the wheel along with the odd shaped o ring, why would it be pictured uninstalled in that first pic?
I'm lost...

Phil, I think your first answer was correct. I found a kit that shows it as the 94-97 compressor housing O ring. The "X" oring is for the 99-03's
That may explain why my directions did not show it. I guess it's just part of the kit just in case
The turbo has to come back off tomorrow for pedestal o rings, I don't want to do it a third time. Thanks for your help

Frank, The kit is for a late 99 turbo. The turbo outlet oring is larger for the late 99. You would have had to order the turbo outlet oring for the Early 99 seperate. Personally I ordered that oring and when I removed my turbo to put in my donut gaskets I just reused my old square oring in my turbo outlet. I liked the square one better than the one I purchased, just personal preference. There was nothing wrong with my old turbo outlet oring. If you want the one for the early 99 then PM me the correct name and address and I will send you the one I purchased for nothing. You are welcome to it. It is definately smaller than the late 99 turbo outlet.

Did you expand your pipes to get the donuts to reseal or did you compress them prior to putting them in your truck. I compressed mine and slightly heated them and used a hammer to help compress the gaskets by smashing them while heated. Looks like they are still holding on and not leaking. You should be good to go.
