P0266

Heya guys on the way home from work the truck started to run really rough, got it home and pulled a P0266 code shut the truck off and started it back up and cleared the code and it was back to running smooth. So the next day she fired right up no problem and i drove to work and everything was fine, well she sat for 12 hours while i was at work and when i started her up to go home it started running rough again and the P0266 came back but i noticed i had 1 PSI boost sitting in park at idle, it has never done this before i never have boost until im driving and the RPMs are up a bit like 1500 or so and when i stopped at the store on my way home when i turned the key on it didnt do the injector buzz test like it normally does in fact i cant ever remember a time when i turned the key on and it didnt do the buzz test. FICM voltage runs between 46.0 to 47.5 and battery voltage is always 13.5 to 14.0. running all motorcraft filters and just changed the oil to T-6 5W40. When i bought the truck in july the dealer had installed 2 batteries and an alternator when they took it in on trade. So my question is this could the logic side of the FICM been damaged prior to the new alternator and batteries and perhaps this is causing the P0266, idle boost and intermittent injector buzz test? Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions.

It's possible, and the ficm voltage dropping to 46 is low enough to point to a failure starting anyhow...

Thank you for the reply. So my next question would be if I send this FICM to Ed does he have a way of testing the logic side of things and if so and there is a problem can he fix it, the reason I ask is I sure would hate to spend the 500 or so to have him tune up the FICM and have the FICM turn out to still be bad. I called Ed yesterday but he hasn't had a chance to get back to me yet.

If it was an electrical short or open circuit wouldn't it throw some other code with the P0266?

Alliant is a good company. No worries on that part. Keep it around for a spare.

Having that code for the one injector could be ficm related, or injector related. Have an ohm meter?

I guess i will get tousley on the horn and get a new injector and the upgraded stand pipes and dummy plugs on their way. What kinda threw me off was getting boost at idle and the injectors not buzzing when i turn the key on.Thanks for the input guys.

You can ohm out the injector to see if there is an electrical failure.

PM me an email addy and I will send you the charts and pin locations to test the injector!

I did a continuity test through the harness from the ficm connector and got tone on the high and low side pins for #2 so at least the wires are good.

Well Ed from FICMrepair.com took good care of me send the FICM out in the mail yesterday and i recieved it today. Installed and the truck runs with no codes. I will update if the code returns and i have to install an injector. I got the 2 year warranty with an atlas 40 tune so we shall see how it goes. Thank you guys for the help and input you provided.
