Can AE be loaded on more than one computer that you own?
Yes, I have AE loaded on 3 computers. 1 desktop with XP, 1 laptop with XP and 1 laptop with Windows 7. Had to re-enter activation code to activate the Ford enhanced bundle when I downloaded it to each laptop.
well how it just ended up being the two left not working i'm not sure , maybe they got the worst of it as it passed through the fuel rails. and i've ran all kinds of injector fluids through the truck over a year and a halfs time. didnt have the money to fix it back then. but now i've got about 3k to drop in her. and yes i believe i have the tools or can make something up to pull this off. i been turning wrenches a long time but, never played with diesels much. i'll stand em up, unscrew the cone offand set pieces aside one at a time in order. worst case is, i **** away 100 buck of core money when i have to buy new ones. wish me luck! if some one could point out where the parts are i should unplug that would be very helpful. i no where the cps is, replaced that already. thanks chris

the new versions of AE can be loaded on as many computers as you want, as the security dongle and the scanner attachment HAVE to be hooked up to the USB ports before you start the program for it to work. Since you can only use it on one at time I guess they don't care how many computers you load the software on.
It is well worth the money to have it for yourself.
I bought it from Riffraff for $360, then less then a week later I needed to have the Dodge bundle too. I ended up giving AE another $360 for the Domestic Bundle, as it was a better deal to buy all 3 then just the Dodge one. My problem is that everyone that knows I have it is broke as me and wants/ needs me to do it for free. I guess I didn't buy it to make money, but it would be nice to have it at least pay partially for itself.
Nsaan,
At least charge 10 or 20 bucks for the use of your scanner to help pay for it if you really need that money back in the bank or to pay your credit card bill.
The laptop computer I have for AE was purchased off of Craigslist.org
It was a laptop that only had one usable USB port so I had to purchase a USB hub. You need at least two USB ports, one for the security dongle and one for the scanner cord to plug in to. Some people also like to use a laptop cooling pad that plugs into the USB. A USB hub can only supply so many devices before it bogs down and can not supply the needed current flow. Mine works well. I paid 50$. It was a inspiron that was built in 2007 with a new battery. Had a few chips on the corners but for 50$ I could not go wrong. It had a windows 7 Operating System on it with a 20 Meg HD. It did not have a wireless card installed in it so it was much cheaper than anything else the guy had for sale. I hope this helps you make a frugal decision with the laptop for AE.
I have AE on two laptops. One is very powerful and fast with Win 7 Pro, the other is a netbook with Win 7 Starter. The power/speed of the computer has no impact on the data flow from the truck. OBDII is an old standard that has a slow data rate that the most basic computer can manage.
I have had an AE for about a year now and I am not sure what you refer to as the "security dongle". I just have the scan tool that plugs into the lap top, can read and clear codes ETC. - but I don't think that I can read more than my truck. Maybe one more?
They updated the package, they have the scanner attachment and also there is what looks like a USB jump drive that both have to be attached in order for you to be able to use the scanner. It is an additional security measure that they instituted because there were pirated copies of the program going around. Frankly I think the dongle is a pain in the butt when I have both connected next to each other on my laptop it has issues occasionally.
Was looking at laptops for black Friday deal. Then to Clays for AE. Doesn't list Win 8 compatabity. Do you guys recommend staying clear of Win 8, or is it compatible?

Email Clay or AE direct and ask them. Windows 8 is so new I don't know if anyone has tried it yet on our trucks. Just be sure to share the answer you get with the rest of us. We'll have to get clarification from AE (either direct or through Clay) to know for sure.

With the enhanced Ford bundle that is only a year old you should be able to read any number of Ford vehicles (gas, diesel, truck, cars or SUVs) 1996 to present.
