The Mtn Bolt Build, 93 Flare Side Blown 351W

Got her Aug 2011 and had a bunch of go fast to put on her from an old Bronco I had.

Oct 2011, Tinted wiindows, 2 Daystar leveling spacers, cleaned-up rims and bed cover:

Oct. 2011 The bench seat was nice looking but the springs were shot. I found a center consul, got some buckets from a Nissan Maxima, and seat mounts from Broncs:

Next came the engine ****, Roller engine install, MAF conversion, and Supercharger install.

The bits and pieces:
A low mileage roller 351W from a 95 with World Products Windsor Sr. heads, Crane roller cam, and Comps Rollin' rockers.
Mass air conversion - RJMinjection.com layover harness, 90mm Lightning MAF, and Ford Racing 42lb injectors.
A 2.2l Kenne Bell, Twin Screw, Generation 1 Lightning Supercharger with 75mm Accufab throttle body, and K&N cone filter in a cold air box.
To feed it, a BBK, in-line 50gph fuel pump.
Exhaust flow comes from JBA stainless shorties, 3" Bassani Y pipe, Flowmaster 70 series bigblock muffler and 18 inch Magnaflow glass pack. She is relatively quiet.
It is TwEECer tuned using a FLY1/AHACA Truck EECIV for engine and Transmission management.

Thanks!

I got a wild hair this Thanksgiving break. This is the latest stuff done and then I will get back to other stuff I have done.

I put the Mtn Bolt, ole Nelly on a diet. I dumped the exhaust just aft of the rear axle (cut off an 18 glass pack and some 3" pipe), removed the side steps, trailer hitch, rear bumper, tool chest, and center consul/jump seat. She lost somewhere around 300lbs. It was a noticeable difference as measured by the "seat of my pants". Now I need to remove a bottom leaf from the packs as she is bucking a bit with less load on her and I am trying to get some lighter sprung coils for the front.

I think I can get a couple hundred bucks out of the bumper, same for the side steps, and tool chest. The hitch was rusted to crap and rarely used plus I got a V8 explorer for the light towing I do. Plus also got the consul to sell.

That will more than fund a fiberglass roll pan to replace the bumper. Which means I am going to get a new camshaft. The cam I run is RV style and for low end grunt which was great for my crawler. I am going from the old Crane cam I run to Cranes 2031. It's a better camshaft. I will lose nothing on the bottom end and will gain 40hp & 42ftlbs at 5,000RPM. I may also get a glass hood.

I got Desktop Dyno 2003 and I was able to learn more about the Kenne Bell, 2.2l, Blowzilla output and efficiency. This output should be pretty accurate thanks to those two facts:

I found a most cool spread sheet to look at shift points, torque and horsepower. If anyone wants it or can host it, I can e-mail it. I have input my rig. I used my DD03 dyno and this spread sheet to reprogram my shift points.

Inputs, torque in each gear at tranny output:

RPM after shift

Torque at tranny output shaft vs engine RPM:

Wow, found a local tuning shop specializing in boosted applications that will do a baseline dyno run for free, then $25/run or $100/hr. for tuning. One guess where my X-mas money is going? :rockon

I got an appointment tomorrow at 10am. I got two tunes I want to look at, my go fast and economy/cruising tune. I throw more fuel at it in the go fast tune. We'll see if it makes a difference.

I got 4" lift 350lb springs from Deaver and installed them today. The ride is awesome and the ride height is good. I may get lucky on the alignment. I haven't touched that yet as it has just a little bit of excess positive camber and they should settle some being new.

I like the spring rate though I think they would be too soft if I had a heavy winch, bumper and roll cage.

Two thumbs-up for Deaver! They came-in a week early.
