74 2.8 flywheel spacer
Hey Guys,
has anyone knowledge of the thickness of the spacer used on the early v6 engines? it was used between the flywheel and crank, can't find anything on it. Better yet does anyone have one they are willing to part with? The engine is ready to go in after rebuild but can't go in till the flywheel is on. the flywheel and clutch assy. will sit to far foward engaging the starter all the time and possibly hang the throwout by traveling to far on the bearing retainer. The donner car was a capri 74 I believe
Thanks Joe

Have you found one yet?
The only one I know of is for the automatic transmissions:
A4LD 6 Bolt Crankshaft Spacer | eBay
Does this look like it will work?

Thanks for the replies gents, the ebay spacer is for the auto it's the converter pilot. the only spacer is on the 2.6, the 2.8 has a thicker flywheel.
I happened to get a 2.8 with a 2.6 flywheel as I have found out now through extensive research now I must find a 2.8 flywheel from a mustang ll cause I have a 10 spline hub on the clutch and the ranger has a finer spline and smaller clutch than the mutt ll clutch that I am useing with the mutt ll t5 tranny.
Thanks again

The Mustang II flywheel may need to be used with a MII bellhousing and associated parts (engine plate, starter, etc.) as the truck applications may use a bigger flywheel or different bellhousing depth or other dimensional variations.
I am not an expert on the V6 series, but Ford does do a lot of changes. For instance the Mustang II V8 did use a unique flywheel/flexplate, bellhousing and even oil pan.

If you're still looking for the correct flywheel you may go to this site
capri-list : A list Devoted to Ford's Sporty Mercury Capri
and register and log in and ask if anyone there has a spare 2.8L flywheel?
It't an active group of Capri owners some of whom have tons of spare parts.
