99 F250SD 5.4/auto with 3.73 gears and 287/75r16 tires. Runs smooth, but 160-200,000 miles (debatable history) with synthetic transfer case and gear oil and a tonneau cover. Best I've gotten yet is 13.9mpg 99% highway 1% offroad. Typically I see 11.5-12.5 50% highway 50% city.
But those numbers are if I baby it. Driving it in a ...more enjoyable... manner... I see single digits.
Have a 2012 6.2 with 4:30 rear end, 4X4 crew cab short box. Pulling 13,000 fifth wheel get 7.5 to 9. running empty with box cover get 14 to 16+ Have 9000 miles on it at this point.
Gaining MPG with a tuner is a myth. And MPG increase you get should be considered lucky. Every vehicle I've owned has been tuned and I'd say a actually lost MPG, not much but I did.
2007 5.4 SC/SB 2WD 3.73LS averaged 16.2 mpg over the last 3300 miles. Lowest was 15.2, highest was 17. Mostly highway miles, sometimes loaded with up to a ton in the bed, which doesn't seem to affect mpgs at all. What does affect mpgs is sitting in traffic or city driving.
Was getting high 16 - low 17 mpg in the 99 reg cab 5.4.
My truck in the sig....8-9 mpg towing(5th wheel and truck @ 18,500) back and forth to work..13mpg...cruising longer distances and not towing,...15-16mpg.
'99 SC 4x4, 4.10's stock size tires. I get around 11-12 mpg in town driving, 14-15 0n the hiway, all empty. Loaded or towing it goes down to 8-10.
I have picked up a little mileage and performance by using non ethanol gas which is available here locally...
