did your whole truck die? do they use alot of salt out tthere on the roads. if so your wires may be correded out and or it could be the power wire to the cab of the truck i know on mine it has a bad connection and its cut out once before and killed everything. in my truck its a yellow and blue stripped i wanna say. it comes from the altenator. i know that much. other than that check your fuse brick for melted wires see if anything could have shorted out anywhere
truck didnt die. there is no salt on the roads yet in michigan. i changed the fuse for the stop lights. then the dash lights barfed and changed that fuse. then parking lights went out. changed all the fuses that were blown and then they all blew. traced the harness going to tail light and trailer plug and i can find anything. yet. could it be under the dash or what idk.
Im Lost.
its probably either in the dash or at the taillights.
i remember i once had a whole crap-ton of fuses blow all at once in my flatbed when i used a tree branch to crush a taillight bulb into its socket, shorting out everything. it killed every lighting fuse on the truck, plus some random things like the fuse that covers the oil idiot light and whatever else. i don't remember the exact details, but something like 8 different fuse positions all blew for that.
IIRC at the rear of the left frame rail theres a plug for all rear lighting, you might try unplugging it to see if the problem is before or after that point, and work from there. i suspect your problem is somewhere forward, but it never hurts to eliminate one section
i bought the truck as a cab & chassis. the guy took the flat bed off and cut all the wires for the lights. put a box on it and wired up the lights soldered and waterproof heat shrinked every connection. did have a prob last winter my trailer plug got ripped pulling my sisters jeep out of an 8 foot drainage ditch the was a f***ed up night. that caused my last elec problem. smoked the headlight switch. its all just strange no problems and BOOM 5 things at once. ill check it out in the A.M. i did replace all fuses after i got it back in the barn. took the batts out an put em on the charger for a fresh start. might even be a good time to hook up my new brake controller
Update:
i now have light from the cab forward i disconnected the tail light section from the harness and replaced all fuses and both relays. still dont have 4ways tho im assuming thats because there isnt any tail lights. correct me if im wrong
update:
i removed the wires from the clips in the frame rail and found that there were 2 wires with cracked casings. they were zip tied into a bundle and close to the edge of the frame. i replaced the damaged section and no blown fuse yet. but the truck is still in the garage so we'll see what happends in the test drive
