Grey iron still does. I'm not sure which block it is though. It's aluminum, thats the most I know. family member works there.

They dont even foundry the metal there, its shipped in with tanker trucks and poured.

Does it matter in which hose you place the ts? I would reckon that one is supply and return, but is there a good way to identify which is which?

I'm curious as to if I could just find the return from the system and then run that straight into a hose barb in my base, exit the other side of the base with another barb and go right back into the return? It would simply the mess of fittings greatly.

You just have to have them hooked up to the correct hoses so the flow is the same.

You want your incoming on the incoming line to the heater core and your outgoing line on the outgoing line of the heater core.

They are not full flow, hence bypass, so if you hook them up backwards, it wont work right.

So I can just run incoming into base, and then out from base back into that same line so essentially I am using the filter base as my splice point?

I don't see any issues.

It's just more hoses and things to run.

Your running it off a service port as well.

I thought about doing it this way to begin with, but it requires buying more hardware as well because your hose sizes are different.

It's not a full flow filter. It's a restricted bypass.

Thus only a percentage of the fluid flows though the filter per cycle.

So lets say 80% of the fluid will go to the heater core and 20% will go though the filter per cycle.

Bypass filters can filter finer materials because they are not flow dependant. A full flow must be able to flow X gallons per minute otherwise will cause a restriction.
