Should I buy a Freestyle??

My wife is looking at a used Freestyle. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with this vehicle?? I have read about the rear brake problems and the CVT trans is very expensive to replace. What is the average life for the CVT? Thanks for the advice.

Wish Ford still had this model in their lineup. We had one and it was a great car. When it came time to replace it, the new offering was the Edge which we did not like. The Freestyle was a great car and never had any issues with the CVT.

We love our 2005, it has about 79k mi.. Find someone to check it out that is familiar with the CVT. Also, see if you can find someone to pull an oasis report.

Love my Freestyle. I think most of the problems with the CVT are due to fluid contamination due to someone topping off the fluid with standard ATF or not knowing what they are doing while changing the fluid.
Purchased mine with 72K miles and now have 109K with no problems. The FWD version gets about 4 mpg better fuel economy than AWD.

We bought ours 3 years ago. Only problem has been a broken top motor mount. The rubber bushing was broken.

Other than that, we have not had any other problems. My wife loves it. We currently have 74000 miles on it.

My neighbor has one. 230K miles. Routine maint, tires, batteries. No serious problems and it looks like new! I was amazed by the mileage.
