Well it's handled my beating just fine, so i'm not worried. I'm gonna pull the inspection plate off to let her have a peak at the hardware before she starts.

My wife learned stick on a 70 Challenger 440. That was fun since it had a manual throwout bearing.
Manual throwout? You mean like the old style clutch linkage?

No hydraulic fluid to release the clutch plate. It moved with foot pressure. Kinda like old school manual steering, no fluid to help.

I like those better! You get better clutch feedback.

That stinks. Manuals are fun, but unfortunately dead. I figure just a few more years and they will be gone completely in the US.

I don't know about that. Seems like at least 10-20% of the Tacomas i work on are stick.

The end is coming maybe not this year or the next, but its around the corner. The Tacoma is ending its model year life cycle soon. The Tundra gets redesigned next year and the Tacoma will follow. The manual will likely still be there but in even lower numbers or optional configurations.

There were 55,289 sold in 2011. If 5-10% were manuals, then that is a very low take rate.

thats cuz the motor companys keep trying to limit the models they can be ordered in... ntm were entering a society thats wanting to be lazier and lazier while driving... if they had to shift they couldnt txt on their phones while driving anymore...
