Replacing van windows, methods, parts?
Got a '76 E-250, rear door windows are the bottom-opening type. One has been loose for quite a while and finally just fell out after hitting a bump in the road the other day.
I'd like to replace both back windows with solid, non-opening glass. Can this be done without swapping out the door? If I can dig up the glass from a wrecking yard will the window opening basically be the same?
Assuming i find the glass and I dont need to change out the door, how do you go about installing a solid window? Is this something that is fairly easy to do, or should I take the whole thing to an auto glass place and save myself some headaches and broken glass?
You will need the fixed type windows and gaskets and an extra set of hands.
Put the glass in the gaskets, hold it in place from one side of the door, and then work your way around the gasket from the other side of the door, slipping it into the door opening.
