My 1976 F250 used to have about half of the dash pod lights working, but dimly. Soooo like and idiot, I pulled the pod out, cleaned all the contact surfaces with the same type of cleaners as used on computor contacts, wiped the areas clean and put in new bulbs.
Everything was also cleaned off and reconnected and put back in. Now, I have no lights at all...... Grrrrrrrrrr. Any clues as to what I did wrong? Wrong bulbs, doubt it? Bad gauge printed circuit? Bad switch? What should I look at?
Turn on the parking lights and rotate the headlight switch all the way counter-clockwise, then make sure you have 12 volts on both sides of the dash light fuse.
I would check your dash light fuse first and then check with a multimeter to make sure your getting 12v to the gauge cluster when the lights are on. Make sure the plug for the cluster is making a good connection too. If all of those check out then I would guess the printed circuit is bad. Sounds like somewhere along the line theres a bad connection. I had trouble with my printed circuit way back when and had to replace it.
