New 53 F100 owner

Hey guys, my name is Nate and I'm a longtime mustang owner with my current one being a 2008 Shelby GT500. Well yesterday I bought a 1953 F100 off of ebay and I feel completely lost. I know the Shelby inside and out and have roughly 10k + posts on SVT and mustang forums. My last truck was an 04 FX4 and I'm hoping to pickup a Raptor in the next year but for now its only the 53. I haven't seen it yet in person as I'm in VA and its in AR but it should be up here in a couple weeks. I've got lots to learn so bare with me. Here are a couple of pics. Completely original 1953. Runs and the dome light even works. Its been sitting inside for about 18yrs and was originally seafoam green. Any recommendations on where to buy parts? Right now the goal is to do some maintenance and a tune up so she's reliable. Needs tires as well. Please let me know if anything stands out.

Looks like a great project. It's easy! Just turn it into a Mustang underneath! Welcome to FTE!

Haha, thanks for the advice. I actually had a buddy already tell me to just pull the motor, transmission, and air ride off the Shelby and swap it into the truck .

I feel pretty confident that I got an awesome price on the truck but whats a solid body, all original, 53 going for? Ballpark figure of course.

Prices vary a lot from one region of the country to another. Here in the upper Northeast that truck would probably go for around $2-3 grand...ball park...if it doesn't have a lot of rust. Problem is, most here do have a lot of rust!

Welcome, Nate. Your main resource, but by far not the only one is likely Mid Fifty F-100 Parts - Home. There are a variety of vendors thru which you could build a complete mid fifties Ford F100 piece by piece and you will become familiar with them all over the next few months.

I have not seen the truck in person but have seen probably 100 pictures. The seller said that there are no rusted out areas and the truck is very solid. I was thinking the truck was worth $4-$5k. After I have it shipped here I'll be in it for slightly over $3k.

I think you got a good deal. The truck surely looks solid in the pictures. I think if the truck were running it may be in the $4-5 range. Hopefully, it won't take much to get it there.

Looks like you found a nice project. The fact that it has very little rust or no rust will save you a ton of money and time. Welcome on board. Just make sure to share pictures during your built.

Thanks. I'll definitely be documenting its progress from day that it arrives. Will be slow at first as I'm currently selling my house and moving so I won't get much time for awhile. It's going to be a project with my father and 2 brothers.

Welcome,
good to see another 53-56 truck here on this forum.
Looks like a solid truck much better than most especially mine. Keep us posted with progress and pics.
