I have a 2002 F-250 Super Duty with only 37K miles. Recently, it's making a short scraping noise from somewhere underneath when I reach 43 mph with slow acceleration on a flat road. It only lasts a second and goes away, even if I stay at 43 mph. No noise at any other speed, or acceleration rate. My mechanic found a heat shield loose, and welded that, so that's not the problem. Has anyone an idea?

Keep looking, it sounds like a speed/RPM specific vibration and it might go away as easily as it appeared.
The sound is similar to rubbing a sharpening stone over the edge of a shovel. Since it only happens at a certain mph, it may be also at a certain rpm, which I hope doesn't mean transmission trouble.
