I'm always amazed how y'all casually mention doing the 50c mod and plenum inserts and intercooler boots, hpop hoses, etc. I'm doing all that stuff right now, and whew! It's a JOB. Haf'ta work off a stool and it keeps shifting...dropped a valve cover bolt and it just disappeared...dropped my 5/8 crow foot and I think it fell into the water pump pulley. I couldn't have done that in a million years if I was trying! And dirty! What a pain to clean things up! Oh well, I should be done before the snow flies, in any case. [Jan?] 'Course, I'd really be hard up if y'all hadn't done all these jobs and weren't kind enough to pass on your experience with them. So, along with my bitchin', here's a big thank you for all of you for your directions.
There was a time when I would have heard that and thought "There ain't gunna be a next time, I fixed it and I'm done... period.". Of course the next component needs upgrading/attention, or I didn't have every last part before I wrapped something up, or I changed my mind on something, or I did the minimal amount of work in the hope that it would suffice. These all led to four tank-drops and this will be about the fifth time I've ripped into the valley. Maybe I should have bought that Superduty with a 6.4L, it would have cost about the same in my case.
Anyway... there's a whole learn by mistake thing going on in the Tugly garage.

Don't you have to lift the cab off the truck to work on 6.4? Not something that I want to do.
I am actually thinking about making a platform sorta thing about 24" high that wraps around the front of my truck for doing work under the hood. Kind of like a deck with a truck growing out of it. This standing on stools and buckets is getting really old. Last time I actually let all the air out of the front tires to get it down a bit, and I am 5'11".
Guy I know has a rolling cart he uses. It has two wheels in the back and two feet in the front with a hoop to steer it. It's about 16-24" wide and about 6' long. It really makes the step up and down easier, especially with big tires and lifts. I really need to build one, sure beats the crap out of a bucket or crate...

click on the pdf file under the pictures from F250_s first post and there is a 4/color sheet that you can print off.
I have some work to do soon so I am going to build one this weekend.
Saw a metal one that hung on the tire. kind of spendy at 76$ but maybe with a welder one could copy.
Well since you know how to do it now, Ill bring mine over this weekend and drop it off for you to work on. Haha.
Yea working under the hood is a pain. Been thinking about getting a Ranch Hand replacement bumper put on just so I can get up on it and sit on it when Im doing the work.
Ha ha, pin! Go ahead, drop it off...when I finish all this stuff, I'm taking a break! The only thing I want to do after this is u-joints and a carrier bearing and my truck should be good to go for the long haul. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to reinstall the spider? I wrestled it for a half hour so far and no bueno....
I respectfully suggest to all of you guys that you consider putting off one of your upcoming mods and instead drop a couple hundred on a good topside creeper. I have the Northern Tool adjustable one, which I just used while doing my injector cups, fuel bowl, HPOP, $.50 mod, etc.
I honestly can't imagine working on one of these trucks without one, and mine is stock height and I am 6'4". For instance, it is SO NICE to be able to lay over the engine while it's running, and look around in the valley behind the HPOP with a flashlight. Indispensable, IMHO.
