Under bed batteries + water crossings?

Alright so been looking for a replacment bed for my F250 (came with a beaten up one) and finnaly found a decent priced bed but its a flatbed. Was thinking instead of mounting my batteries in the bed like I had planned I would just mount them under the flat bed (figuring they wont hang lower then the frame rails) however since I do occasional light trail riding with an occasional water crossing (Half Moon Creek in Co namley) was wondering if anyones ever had problems with batteries due to water crossing, theyll be in a battery box but it wont be watertight so water can/will get in if its deep enough. (mainly thinking shorting out the electricals due to fully sumerged batteries)

Yes you can mount the battery under the bed with no ill effects, even under water for a period of time

Basically water is a conductor of electricity but not as good as the acid inside a sealed battery or enough to create enough of a dead short to quickly kill the battery while crossing a river as long as the engine is running. Even if its not running (happens to stall/flood/bass caught in carburetor/etc) it will last a long time before discharging completely.

Thanks, was what I was hoping to hear, so all I have to worry about is water getting high enough to flood my air intake and hydrolock me (if it gets that high I have bigger issues anyways) oh and if a bass gets caught in my carb I wanna know who put a carb on my diesel

just make sure you put drain holes in the battery boxes.

no swamp water and no leaches up that high (2 miles + above sea level) so Im good there and the drain holes is how water gets in the battery box in the first place (yes Ill make sure to have at least a couple small holes to let it drain out)

Id put a snorkal on it to eliminate the hydrolock possibility but since this truck see 1 maybe 2 days offroad a year most the mods are focused on towing with the rest on snow driving (if its bad enough to need the truck most the city is shut down already, Ive gone places in the Miata some cant go in an SUV)
