I thought I had an E-250 Club Wagon XL...

... now I'm not sure. Nowhere on the van does it say E-150, E-250 or E-350.

So, how do I figure out what my 1989 Club Wagon XL is?

If it has 5 lug wheels, it's an E150.

If 8 lugs, E250 or E350. But if you have 8 lug wheels, and the rear axle doesn't stick out pass the rim, witch means you'd have a semi floating axle, that's an E250 for sure.

If it's got a full floater axle (hub sticks out passed rim), chances are, it's an E350.

The 6th position in the VIN will be 1, 2 or 3 for E150, E250 or E350 respectively.

That rear axle is a dead giveaway....flush with wheel = E-250. Axle extending out past the wheel about six inches = E-350. I have one of each.

I've seen some E250's with sticking out hubs, and seen newer E350's with flush axles....

Interesting, my E-250 (It was determined as such by the serial number) has the extended rear hubs/axel.

My '05 E350 had the flush hub (semi-floating axle) I swapped it out for a extended hub (full-floating axle).
